Jordan River Rising Concert and Proposed Nonprofit
Phase One
In preparation for the inaugural biennial Jordan River Rising Concert, a vision-casting inspection tour and livestreamed “unplugged” concert with a small group of musicians and technical crew will be organized.
Phase Two
*Inaugural Jordan River Rising Concert. Biennial Concert and Gathering at the Bethany-beyond-the-Jordan location of the baptism of Jesus, in order to praise Jesus and unite His followers from all walks of life in the United States and around the world.
*Virtual /Livestream Concert back-up plan, should COVID-19/variants or travel restrictions preclude large gathering for the live concert. The live event would then be planned for the following year.
Phase Three
The Inaugural Jordan River Rising Concert – and the organizing work leading up to it – has the potential to be a catalyst and fundraiser to develop a U.S.-based nonprofit – tentatively called the “Fellowship of the Baptism Site of Jesus” – that would be a Christian voice for education, fellowship and support of the Baptism Site of Jesus. This U.S.-based nonprofit would work to facilitate the programs below (preliminary plans proposed by initial steering committee), and could also spark other possibilities beyond our imagination:
-Education, workshops, retreats, research, etc. for clergy and seminarians.
-Biennial concert/festival to support nonprofit efforts.
-Retreats for varied Christian groups.
-Publication of research and inspirational material relating to the Baptism Site of Jesus.
-Cultivating goodwill ambassadors for the Baptism Site.
-Help connect churches and pastors with important Christian heritage locations in Jordan.
-Inter-denominational workshops, exchanges, ministry and other initiatives.
-Build toward an expanded version of the Biennial Concert – a convergence of conferences, Film, Faith-Based Talks and Christian Music.
In effect, the proposed nonprofit would advocate and organize opportunities for prayer, support and educational tours/conferences at the Baptism Site of Jesus that would strengthen our foundation and provide a built-in network for the biennial international Christian concert that will allow Christians from around the world to gather in Jordan every other year at the birthplace of their faith (a perennial celebration calendar item similar to World Youth Day, but held every other year at Bethany-beyond-the-Jordan for people of all ages).
